Fire Cupping

The practice of cupping was conceived during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) in China. Today in my practice, I attach multiple glass cups to the skin using suction created by a small flame inside the cup. The vacuum created by removing oxygen from the cup draws your tissue into it. It feels like a swift, small suction to your skin and does not hurt. Cupping stimulates the free flow of Qi (energy) and blood in the tissue. Cupping is often used to treat pain that is in deeper layers of muscle. Most people find the experience pleasant, and are left with localized discoloration that will fade and disappear within a few days to a week. Cupping doesn’t always leave a mark, only does so in the areas where there is blood stagnation. In this way we can see clearly where there are blockages. Additionally, cupping of the back is helpful for those feeling congestion or a cold coming on.

For some people fire cupping is contraindicated and we will go through a list of conditions to be sure that cupping is safe for you.

I recommended that you add cupping (30 min) on to an hour or 90 minute massage which will cost just the length of session.

Cupping by itself with 30 min massage: 1 hr, $100
